Wèn

for Viola
2016
Duration: 12′

The empty strings of the viola are tuned to a kind of microtonally “distorted” minor seventh chord in this solo meditation characterised by sudden breaks.

Wèn was premiered at Kunststation Sankt Peter on 02 April 2016 by violinist Annegret Mayer-Lindenberg, who commissioned it and performed it again at a tribute concert to mark the seventieth birthday of composer Clarence Barlow at the Alte Feuerwache hall in July 2016.
